28 Feb 10 Daily habits that energize me
These 10 things get me – and keep me – going:
1. Lemon water
First thing I drink when I wake up is a glass of lemon water.
It’s essential to rehydrate your body after a night of sleep. And it gets your bowels moving.
Even though a lemon had a low pH, inside our body it has alkalizing properties.
2. Time for myself
Before the day starts, I love to have some time for myself. To wake up my mind, to think, to visualize my day.
3. Light exercises
Last year, with being home a lot, I learned I need to wake up my body. To gently stretch, and do neck exercises. The latter helps a lot in preventing headaches, or at least keeps them to a minimum.
4. Breathe
Last year I rediscovered breathing.
Okay, that sounds silly. I mean deep breathing: belly breathing or box breathing. It calms down your nervous system.
5. Celery juice
Yep, the green stuff.
I love the freshness. And it cleanses the intestines and provides a load of electrolytes.
6. Focus
Especially last year, with so much negativity going on, I found it hard to keep my focus.
So, I am reminding myself (throughout the day) to be aware where my focus is:
On what I can control? Or is it dependent on others?
On the here and now? Or am I chewing over the past or worrying about the future?
What always helps me to come back to the present is to breathe (see #4).
And then I ask myself: what is one thing I can do right now?
7. Read (or listen to) a book
I love to learn. I love expanding my horizon. I love to grow. I love getting new ideas.
8. Eat healthy
Greens, fresh fruits, good fats like avocados, almonds (also alkalizing, see #1), sweet potatoes. And those are just a few favorites.
And of course, drink plenty of water.
9. Take a walk
Move your body. Every day. For at least 30 minutes.
And while doing so, I chat with my husband, or listen to a book (see #7). Either way, I look around and capture amazing views of nature on my phone.
Especially if there are ‘lines’ involved 😉
You gotta celebrate. Especially the small stuff.
Who is going to cheer for you if you don’t do so you yourself?
Do a happy dance or high-five yourself in the mirror!
YOU rock 💎❤️
What is one habit that you do every day, that energizes you?
Let me know in the comment!
As you know by now, I love to learn 🙂
Much health,
Maaike
